Easy Adult Halloween Costumes

With Halloween fast approaching, your focus might go where mine does: my favorite part of this autumn holiday, the costumes. Wearing costumes provide the ability to pretend for one night to be someone else, and the only thing more fun than dressing up as someone (or something) else, is to dress up as someone else – with someone else. Dressing up in a coordinated costume with a partner or spouse is one of the best ways to approach Halloween, and I have some great costume ideas for couples.

Great costume ideas for couples are everywhere. The easiest path for great couples’ Halloween costumes is to simply dress up as other famous couples. This is also the most common of the costume ideas for couples, and for good reason; they are usually lots of fun! Dressing up as celebrities (like Sonny and Cher) is a good route, though lately I prefer dressing up as famous cartoon couples, such as Fred and Wilma Flintstone or Homer and Marge Simpson. Dressing up as a couple that you particularly like is also a good idea for couples.

One of my favorite costume ideas for couples is to invert gender roles. This is particularly good if you find the ideas above a little too boring or ordinary. Maybe you should still dress up as a king and a queen; but switch the costumes around: the woman dresses up as the king and the man dresses up as the queen. This gives a relatively stale concept a fresh and fun costume idea.

Finally, the last of my favorite costume ideas for couples is to go as inanimate objects that go together. I am seeing more and more of these costumes, and I really enjoy them. I see a lot of couples dressing up as eggs and bacon or salt and pepper. This is a fun and fresh way for couples to dress up together without being too couple-y.
